Taiwan Trip - Blue island " PengHu".

DAY 1

It has been almost never I visit Penghu island. I visited there last time was 5 year old. I don’t have much memory about it, but I knew I was trying to pick some claims. 😀

And again, our family decided to go to Penghu this blue island this year. The trip is pretty light since there were – Children, elderly, pregnant mom in the group :D. We planned to day there 4 days 3 night. Actually, one can stay much longer to explore this island – jump around from island to island ( like in Greece) and do water sports or yacht here. I would say this is a happy holiday island from Taiwan territory.

So with early departure, we were lucky to be upgraded to Business class! It was really comfortable. I wished the fly could be longer , but it only took 40 -45 min :D.

After arrival and checked in the languages in hotel, we immediately went to Sea Food Restaurant! Penghu is a sea food paradise, the sea food not only is fresh, clean, but also cheap! You can order almost any kind of sea food dishes here – different kinds of crabs, lobster…etc.

We ordered a lot of food – the pancake with fresh shrimp + squid, and fried oyster , fried rice with fish, noodle with vegetable + claim + shrimp + squid, fresh fish egg and cold baby bamboo plus mayonez, fresh shrimp, BBQ cuttlefish, crabs. I couldn’t explain the taste but we all are so satisfied !!

Then our first attraction is Duxing 10 Village ( 篤行10村）. It is a military dependents’ village converted into a tourist attraction, we can have a peak of old times! There are also old Japanese villas near the military dependents’ village. At that time, it was the official residence of Japanese senior officials. Now it has been converted into many coffee shops. Hall, come and relax and enjoy the charm of Japanese architecture and Japanese gardens.

Then, we followed the winding road to the national historic site – Shuncheng Gate.

History background: During the Qing-French War, Penghu was easily captured by the French army. After the peace talks, Taiwan Governor Liu Mingchuan and Fujian and Zhejiang Governor Yang Changjun discussed the defense of Penghu and believed that it was necessary to build a military defense city. Therefore, Wu Hongluo, the then Penghu General, supervised the construction and built it in 1589. Completed in 1889.

Of course, we visited Mazu Temple. Mazu is an important belief in Taiwan. This Mazu temple is the 1st Mazu temple in Taiwan territory building in 1604. This is one of the must-seem place in Penghu.

Around the Mazu Temple, there is nice old market around it. You can taste really delicious food there.

Actually every March, there is a Mazu pilgrimage hosting in Taiwan main island. This pilgrimage took about 8-9 days by foot and usually there are hundreds of thousands of believers participate and it is regarded as one of the three major religious events in the world. What is particularly rare is that the people along the way sincerely prepare a variety of meals and snacks to provide pilgrims with food, bathing and rest, showing the warmest and most simple human scenery on the road of faith.

Day 2.

our 1st visit is to see the great statue of Mazu. It’s so amazingly height. We of course, show our respect to Mazu and wish a safe trip in Penghu. 🙂

After seeing the Mazu statue, we were all much awake, and heading to the beautiful 湖西 (貝殼造型). It’s a white sand beach with very nice view of the sea. And then, the “Moses Parts the Sea” (奎壁山摩西分海) in Kueibishan Recreation. Both places show different colour of the sea, it’s really amazing.

Day 3.

白沙灘珊瑚沙灘

這大概是最驚艷我的沙灘了, 雖然不是鬆軟的白沙灘, 而是特別的珊瑚礁岩, 但是海灘呈現漸層的顏色, 有綠有藍, 真的太美了, 怎麼拍怎麼好看!

This is probably the beach that amazed me the most. Although it is not a soft white sand beach, but a special coral reef rock, the beach has a gradient color, green and blue. It is really beautiful and looks good no matter how you take pictures!

We also visited Penghu Erkan Ancient Residences. It is an area in Taiwan that preserves nearly 300 years of Southern Min culture. The traditional Minnan courtyard buildings have been reused as various museums. Walking through the quaint and simple alleys of the ancient houses in the Erkan settlement is a good place for you to reminisce about the past.
